  • When should I take the ACT or SAT?
Students are highly recommended to take the SAT or ACT at least once before the end of their junior year.  If a student is in band, it is imperative that they take the SAT or ACT at the end of their junior year due to conflicts between competitions and test dates during the fall.  Students should consider taking the test more than once as colleges will mix and match to build a “superscore” by taking the best scores from each exam.  They will not mix between SAT and ACT, rather between each SAT exam and each ACT exam for the better total score. If you are on free/reduced lunches or are a 21st Century Scholar student, be sure to get your fee waiver from the guidance office before registering for the test. That fee waiver will also earn you 4 college fee waivers.
